The World Food Program (WFP), for those who haven't heard of it yet, plays a major role in the global fight against hunger. It's not just an organization that distributes food. The WFP aims to create a world where every person, regardless of age, gender or place of birth, has continuous access to enough food to lead a healthy and productive life.

The program assistant: a key player in implementing the aid scheme

Program Assistants are responsible for implementing activities and procedures in line with WFP guidelines. These professionals work in the field to ensure the effectiveness of aid programs.

They provide project management support, ensure accurate and timely data recording, and collaborate with colleagues and partners to ensure effective monitoring of project activities. In this way, they play a vital role in emergency preparedness, so that the WFP can respond rapidly when needed.

Key roles and responsibilities and assigned tasks

Implementation of programmatic activities

The position requires the implementation of specialized or standard activities and procedures corresponding to the technical field in question. The aim is to ensure that these are in perfect harmony with the program's general guidelines and policies.

Project management support

The candidate must provide administrative and project management support in strict compliance with WFP objectives, policies and procedures.

Data collection and analysis

As part of his/her responsibilities, the candidate will be required to compile data and contribute to the analysis and production of reports. Reports cover a wide range of topics, from food aid needs and resource utilization to program status and performance. The aim is to support operational decision-making.

Data logging

The job involves the accurate and timely recording of data relating to the technical area in question (such as food security and vulnerability assessments), in accordance with the standards and guidelines established by WFP.

Collaboration and information sharing

The candidate will be expected to collaborate and share information with colleagues to promote effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.

Interaction with stakeholders

Another aspect of the job is to facilitate communication and activities with various partners, agencies, non-governmental organizations and public institutions with a local presence.

Contact point for operational requests

The Program Assistant will act as a point of contact for resolving general operational issues, requesting further assistance if required.

Emergency preparedness

The candidate will apply standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure that WFP is able to respond rapidly and mobilize the necessary resources in affected areas at the onset of a crisis.

Qualifications required for entry into this role

• Ability to facilitate communication with technical teams (nutrition, vulnerability analysis and mapping, etc.).
• Ability to contribute to program implementation.
• Ability to observe or facilitate action discussions.
