July 12 Express Entry draw
On July 12, the department invited 3,800 candidates in a draw based on the French language category with a minimum score of 375 on the Global Classification System (CRS). This marks an important step in Canada's ongoing efforts to promote French across the country.
Overview of recent Express Entry results
Since the beginning of July, IRCC has organized several Express Entry draws. On July 11, 800 candidates were invited to a draw all programs. A minimum score of 505 CRS was required, well above the three-category selection invitations of the previous week, but below the 511 required on July 4.

From July 4 to 7, IRCC held draws on four consecutive days. On July 4, 700 candidates were invited to an all-program draw, with a minimum CRS score of 511, the highest of 2023 to date.
Category-based selection: a new step for immigration
Canada's Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, announced on May 31 that the IRCC had finalized the categories for category-based selection. These categories were chosen after discussions with stakeholders and provincial and territorial governments to identify the most critical gaps in the Canadian labour market.

These categories include health careSTEM professions (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), trades such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors, transportation, agriculture and agrifood, as well as a strong command of French.
Immigration levels plan 2023-2025
According to the 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan, the IRCC plans to admit 82,880 new permanent residents to Canada through Express Entry by the end of 2023. This figure will rise to 109,020 in 2024 and 114,000 by 2025. The new Express Entry categories will help ensure that newcomers to Canada contribute to achieving these goals, while strengthening the Canadian workforce.

What are ITA and Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online system used by ImmigrationRefugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage applications for permanent residence from people in economic immigration categories.
L'ITA, or " Invitation to submit an application" is a notification issued by IRCC to certain individuals in the Express Entry pool. These invitations are generally given to people with the highest scores in the Global Ranking System (GRS). Once a person has received an ITA, he or she is authorized to submit an application for permanent residence in Canada.
The Express Entry system covers three main economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Category
In addition, many provinces and territories Canadians also use Express Entry system to select candidates for their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
