Grants from organizations : Call for IUCN projects in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is launching a call for projects for associations with biodiversity conservation projects.
The countries concerned are Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.
Funding and subsidies range from €10,000 to €30,000.

Who can benefit from this grant?

The project is aimed at civil society organizations working in the environmental field, including NGOs, professional agricultural associations, women's initiatives, youth associations and their federations, as well as local organizations carrying out actions on the ground.

Program objectives and themes

  • The effective and efficient implementation and management of nature conservation projects by civil society organizations operating in Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia;
  • Improving the technical, organizational and institutional efficiency and sustainability of civil society organizations in their ability to carry out nature conservation projects.
  • Improving the technical, organizational and institutional effectiveness and sustainability of CSOs in their readiness to carry out projects in the field;
  • Promote exchanges and networking between CSOs, and pursue dialogue and coordination with governments.

Selection criteria

Projects will be selected on the basis of a points system that takes the following criteria into account:

  • Technical and socio-economic feasibility of the project ;
  • Realism of expected results and impacts ;
  • Contribution to local economic and social development ;
  • Expected impact in terms of biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management ;
  • Innovative aspects of the project ;
  • Project reproducibility ;
  • Social and cultural acceptance: involving local communities (especially women and young people) and civil society.
    Social and cultural acceptance: involvement of local populations (particularly women and young people) and agreement of national and local authorities;
  • Integration of project orientations presented in the context of national policies;
  • Organizational and institutional framework for successful project implementation ;
  • Quality of the project team (technical and/or project management skills) ;
  • Sustainability of activities implemented after funding ends.

How to apply for this call for projects?

Participating organizations are required to fill in a 3 to 4 page summary presenting their project according to the template provided by the programme, which can be downloaded from the IUCN-Med website at the following address

Forms can be written in French or Arabic.

Applicant CSOs must then send their complete presentation form and the project leader's information sheet to IUCN-Med by e-mail at the following address: ppioscan@iucn.org no later than May 16, 2022.
