The European Union in Morocco launches a call for projects to "Promote and defend human rights and democracy and develop the capacities of civil society associations". (Morocco 2022)

  • Total financing budget: €5,630,000
  • Application deadline : May 05, 2022

An online video information conference will be held on April 8, 2022.

Promoting and defending human rights and fundamental freedoms, democracy and the rule of law.
Strengthen civil society organizations as independent actors in good governance and development in their own right.

Project themes

The priority themes targeted by this call for projects are as follows:

Promoting and defending human rights

  • Promoting transparency, access to information and strengthening the fight against and prevention of corruption.
  • Access to justice for human rights defenders and particularly vulnerable groups through legal and judicial assistance, including defense before the competent courts and with a view to strengthening human rights jurisprudence, in line with Morocco's international commitments and the 2011 Constitution.
  • Promote the protection of freedom of opinion and expression and the professionalization of the media.
  • Protection of civil society players, notably through legal support.
  • Protecting children through prevention, protection and care.

Equality and the fight against gender-based violence

Promoting equality between women and men by combating gender-based violence (including child marriage and single mothers), in particular by implementing the local protocol for dealing with women victims of all forms of violence.
Contribute to and support policy dialogue on Moudawana reform, and ongoing work on gender equality.

Integration of young people (aged 15-29) through culture and voluntary work

Contribute to the participation of young people by strengthening their empowerment and involvement in public affairs, notably through cultural activities and the digital transition.
Contribute to and support policy dialogue on youth and volunteering.
