Well, I have some good news to share with you! I just learned that the U.S. Department of State has extended the submission period for the DV-2026 Lottery. The original deadline was set for March 5, november 2024, but you now have additional time to submit your application.
New registration dates
Registration has been open since October 2 at noon (Eastern time), and the new deadline is set at November 7, 2024 at noon (Eastern Time). This gives you two more days to finalize and submit your application. As a reminder, it is essential to respect these times precisely, because no registrations will be accepted after this time slot.
What's interesting is that they synchronized the start with EDT (GMT-4) and the end with EST (GMT-5) – a small technical detail that shows they thought about the fall time change.
I also note that they insist on one crucial point: everything must be done online. Don't even try to send your application by post, it won't work! It's 100% electronic.
For my part, I advise those who are interested not to wait too long. Even though we have more than a month now, the sites can sometimes lag when everyone rushes to them at the last minute.
What you need to know
Here are some points to remember to maximize your chances:
Pay attention to the conditions and requirements: a photo that meets the criteria is required, and it is recommended to avoid typing or information errors, which could compromise your registration.
Submit your form online only on the official website of the United States Department of State. Mail-in registrations are not accepted.
Prepare your documents and carefully check all information. Only one application per person is allowed. Any multiple submissions will result in automatic disqualification.
