However, you do need to prove that you have sufficient income to live in the country.
Your minimum monthly income must be at least equal to the minimum wage in Portugal. If you wish to apply for family members, you will also need to provide the following additional amounts:

For adults, 50 % of the minimum wage or more.

For children under 18, 30 % of the minimum wage.

Knowing that your application may be rejected if your monthly income is equal to the minimum wage, it is therefore advisable to apply for this visa if you have a monthly income higher than the minimum wage in Portugal; if the income is equal to twice the minimum wage, it's better.

It is important to note that your monthly income must be justified and stable, as you are usually asked to prove that your income has been stable and has not decreased over the last six months of the year of your application.

To increase your chances of success, it is advisable to hold a minimum amount equal to 12 months' income in a Portuguese bank account.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A D7 VISA

To apply for your Portuguese visa, you will need to present the following documents:

An application form. (which you can request from your country's consulate or download from the SEF (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras - Foreign Service and Borders) website - Link in comments).

A valid passport.

Two passport photos.

Valid travel insurance. It must cover all medical expenses, including emergency medical assistance and possible repatriation.

An extract from the criminal record issued by your country of origin or the country in which you have resided for more than one year.

Proof that you have accommodation in Portugal, whether it's a house you've rented, the home of someone you know and will be living with, or a house you've bought.

Documents proving possession of a stable monthly income sufficient to live in Portugal, as mentioned above, no less than the minimum wage in Portugal.

You must also provide a bank statement covering the last six months.

Most of the above documents must be translated into Portuguese and officially certified by the Portuguese embassy in your country. In some countries, documents in English or French are accepted.

RENEWAL AND MINIMUM LENGTH OF STAY

Before obtaining permanent resident status or Portuguese nationality (citizenship), you must comply with the residence and renewal conditions as explained in this table:

Period

Minimum stay in Portugal

Renewal date

Renewal option available

Years 1 and 2

6 consecutive months or 8 non-consecutive months each year

End of year 2

3-year residence permit

Grades 3, 4 and 5

6 consecutive months or
8 non-consecutive months each year

End of year 5

3-year residence permit OR permanent residence card OR citizenship (Portuguese nationality)

PROCEDURES AND STEPS FOR OBTAINING A D7 VISA

First step: applying for a visa to enter Portugal.

You must go to the Portuguese consulate or embassy in your country. There you will submit your visa application. It's best to contact the embassy to find out about any additional documents you may need.

One of the most important requirements is proof of residence in Portugal, which means that you must rent or buy a property before applying for the visa. If you have friends or acquaintances in Portugal, they can also prepare an accommodation certificate for you. You need to mention that you live with these people in the same place.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive a four-month visa.

Stage 2: Application for a two-year residence permit

You must apply to the SEF for an effective residence permit. This process takes place after your arrival in Portugal, and you can obtain a two-year residence permit in the country, which is renewable as long as you still meet all the conditions of the same visa.

The procedure can take around two months. However, if some of your documents are missing or if you fill in the forms incorrectly, it may take longer.

You should also note that the time it takes to obtain a residence permit (once you've arrived in Portugal) may vary depending on where you plan to live. If you're planning to live in Lisbon, for example, you may have to wait approximately four months before you can speak to SEF officials.

This is because there are many requests for this type of visa in the big cities. But if you want to live in the countryside or in less crowded cities, the duration can be as short as 15 days.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask in the comments or on our Facebook page and group.

Articles on how to make money on the Internet are available in the "articles" section.

New : Work visa Portugal (New visa, easy to obtain for job seekers in Portugal)

Portugal is one of the best destinations for people seeking to reside in the European Union.
